Q. How are teams initiated?

A. All teams are self-managed and self-supported. You select your team name, your players, your uniforms, and do your own fund raising to financially support your team.

Q. Where are tryouts held?

A. PPCBA offers League tryouts during the spring and fall to assist coaches in the player selection process, but the majority of player personnel comes from self-recruiting. The dates for these tryouts will be posted on this web site.

Q. Does PPCBA have a 15U division?

A. No,  PPCBA does not have a 15U division at this time.  Kids 15 years of age and older are typically playing for their high schools and/or on independent competitive teams not associated with PPCBA.

Q. How much does it cost?
A. Teams within the PPCBA pay a League fee at the beginning of each year, which pays for team insurance, umpire fees, and field costs. This expense runs approximately $700, and does not include team uniforms, baseballs, or baseball equipment, tournament fees, etc.

Q. How many games are played each season?

A. The number of games per team varies depending on number of teams in each division, but typically averages between 20 and 25 games per season for League play. This excludes tournaments during and post season which you may choose to participate in.

Q. What types of baseballs are used?

A. Diamond DOL-A or equal. Balls are to be provided by the team.

Q. What are the umpire fees?

A. They are $30 per ump per game if two umps are used. For a single umpire, the cost is $45. These are payable by each team at the start of the game.

Q. Are there fields we can use for practice or tryouts?

A. It's usually possible to use fields without paying until April. Youth Sports Complex will reserve fields for $10 per hour for practices.

Q. How does a team reserve a practice field at Mountainview for the summer?

A. Check the master schedule for available fields and e-mail or call Tom McCabe, summer scheduler, with your request. This will avoid multiple bookings. You can also talk with Mike Cos at Mountainview (cell 291-1495), but be sure to let Tom McCabe know what you scheduled so there aren't two teams trying to get on the same field when you arrive. Mountainview prefers practice sessions be on Orange or Purple so the girls softball games are closer to the concession stand.

Q. What does Mountainview cost?

A. Cost is $10 per hour. Line and drag is an extra $10. Lights are $10 per hour. Checks should be made out to Colorado ISA and given to Mike Cox when you arrive.

Q. What is PPCBA's Federal Tax ID Number?

A. 84-1255945

Q. What is PPCBA's Colorado Tax Exemption Number?

A. 98-11689-0000

Q. What are the rules regarding batting out of order?

BATTING OUT OF ORDER
bulletThe batter is out, on appeal, if he bats out of order.
bulletThe proper batter may take his place any time before he becomes a runner or is put out and assume the count for the wrong guy.
bulletWhen the improper batter gets on base or is put out, the defensive team can appeal before the first pitch to the next batter (of either team) and the umpire shall declare the proper batter out, nullifying any advance or score because of the improper batter’s hitting or even hit batter.
bulletIf a runner advances on a stolen base, balk, wild pitch, or passed ball while an improper batter is at bat, that’s legal.
bulletIf the improper batter gets on base and there is no appeal before the next pitch, he becomes a proper batter.
bulletWhen the proper batter is called out because he failed to bat in turn, the next batter is that following the proper batter.
bullet If there is no appeal, the next batter is the one following the improper batter -- i.e., the batting order picks up with the name following the legalized, improper batter.
